Time is of the Essence in Reading
Synopsis
Every day for approximately 60 minutes, students are learning through center work in the classroom. During this time, students are expected to rotate every 15 minutes through four centers. The students focus on current letters, review old letters, and work on high frequency words, writing, and reading. The project, “Time is of the Essence in Reading,” is needed to aid in the success that students can have during these center times. With the right resources and manipulatives, students will be able to learn in different ways at their own pace rather than doing multiple worksheets. When everyone is fully engaged in learning, the behavior issues subside, and students enjoy what they are learning. This also allows the teacher to work more closely with students to help master the reading skills they will need as they grow.
